Image segmentation is the initial step in image analysis and pattern recognition. Image segmentation refers to partitioning an image into different regions that are homogenous or similar in some characteristics. Color image segmentation attracts more and attention because color image color images can provide more information than gray level images. Basically, color image segmentation approaches are based on monochrome segmentation approaches operating in different color spaces.
